The Eleven Laws

lawofattraction

For as many people who embrace the Law of Attraction, there are equally as many people who will regard that Law as a pile of hooey. And I have a couple guesses as to why. Because a) They may have difficulty understanding that – good or bad – their lives truly are as they create them to be. OR b) they have studied no further than The Secret, and consequently, cannot make the Law of Attraction work for them in the way that they want.

Unfortunately, as inspiring as The Secret is, it provides its audience with only a small glimpse of the big picture. In fact, the movie’s hypey attempt at an ‘LOA Exposé’ is incomplete and misleading. Consequently, with only a small amount of information given, its fan base has experienced little or no results; therefore, labeling The Secret as being a bunch of bunk.

What has this created? A population of disappointed people who have invested their time, money, and heart into a cleverly marketed theory – only to be left with a negative outcome – which can be a disheartening experience for some.

But, don’t let that be the case for you. Know that the Law of Attraction is just ONE of many laws (within the whole LOA spectrum) that provide you with the necessary knowledge to unleash your full potential. Might that shed a little light on why so many people end up stuck in a vicious circle of little achievement, instead of seeing the goals that they’ve purposefully set out to create?

When you understand the main purpose of The Secret, you’ll be a lot more grateful for what it provides. The Secret has been phenomenal in capturing the attention of millions of people and generating an interest. Without interest, there would be no further study; and those people wouldn’t be attempting to harness their power of positive thinking to create better lives for themselves. Sheer brilliance, I say. However, when we want to actually work with these laws to enhance or change our lives, then we need to be willing to think beyond The Secret; delve further into the subject; understand the laws; and prepare our mentalities to work in harmony with them.

So, that being said, what are the laws? Well, there are eleven of them and they are…

THE LAWS OF: Thinking, Supply, Attraction, Receiving, Increase, Compensation, Non-Resistance, Forgiveness, Sacrifice, Obedience, and Success

Oi!  That’s a lot, hey? Think of all these Laws as merely chapters within the big book of LOA. Most of them you will likely be familiar with already.

Oprah & The Secret

Oprah tells Larry King how she, unknowingly at the time, used the Law of Attraction to bring about her role in one of my all-time favourite movies, The Color Purple.

Wish books

Details. The Universe responds well to them, and unveils the true magic of creation.

It’s easy for us to rattle off what we want as though we are making a Christmas wish list for Santa; however, creation requires a little more effort than just jotting down items. It requires feeling… heart… soul — an accurate image for the Universe to reciprocate.

Kids are great at creation, because their imaginations are in full swing all the time! Journaling is a great way to capture your child’s desires as they see them. Now depending on their age and writing capability, this may require help from you; as the mission here is to transform all those glorious images that your child has swirling around in his or her noggin – into words with pictures.

For older kids and teens, there a lot of fancy or just plain blank books (available in book and stationery stores) that can be used for many different purposes. These will suit the older child who isn’t particularly fond of ‘art time’ anymore.

For younger kids, however, it is just a suggestion that their book be a handmade creation from start to finish. This can be done in a variety of ways from decorated duotangs or report covers, to thin covers made of construction paper. With a little imagination, it’s amazing what crayons, glittery pens, glue, buttons, sequins, or pennies can do to help bring it to life!

Watch what a little creativity and an hour produced in our home!

So now that your child’s Wish Book or Dream Journal has been created, what exactly goes in it? Well, that’s entirely up to your child. This book is the keeper of hopes, dreams, and desires – whatever your child envisions as being important to him or her. This is their book. What goes in there really doesn’t matter. What does matter, however, is that they get the hang of putting their thoughts into hardcopy — which helps to bring those visions into existence.

A few examples of what can go into a Wish Book are: drawings; pictures from a magazine, catalogue, or flyer; and text to tell a story or to describe an item of desire.

Have fun!

Abraham Hicks

Have you met Abraham yet?

So I spent a portion of my weekend completely engaged in watching Esther Hicks tune into a vibration much higher than ours. This incredible ability to translate knowledge from a spiritual energy source for our inspirational gain had me in complete awe, and at times, moved to tears.

Abraham, a ‘Non-Physical Source Energy’, communicates blocks of thought to Esther Hicks. Absolutely fascinating and worth every moment of your time to explore the Law of Attraction through the wisdom of Abraham.

How to Discover Your Life’s Purpose

PurposeFor reasons due to old programming, it has been a common idea that to do anything that we absolutely love or are really talented at – it should be done as a hobby. You know… on your SPARE time when you aren’t working at a REAL job.

I grew up with it being common knowledge that you focus on jobs that make money, provide security and a great benefit package. Who cares if you have to work one or two jobs that you absolutely dislike just to make ends meet. Who cares if you aren’t happy with what you do. You do what you need to do to get by because that’s what they’ve done for generations before you – with little to no complaints. And because That’s Life, right? Hmmm… I beg to differ, but don’t go quitting your day job just yet!

Your talents are unique to you and stem from your most passionate self. They aren’t to be ignored or pushed to the side until you have time for them. For your true passion holds the key to your life’s joy and purpose, and is meant to be expressed and impressed upon the lives of others in some way.

So how do you find your purpose? Here are a couple simple questions to help steer you towards your joy:

  • What activities would you do regardless of financial compensation?
  • What do you do that absorbs hours of your time without you even noticing?

These aren’t hard to answer; they aren’t trick questions. What, with every fibre of your being, do you love to do?

For me, this is writing. I have been writing in some form or another for over 15 years – it is my greatest passion. When I write, hours flip by in what seems like mere minutes. I have a couple other passions that – when engaged – manage to leech many hours of my time as well. However, it has only been since educating myself on the Law of Attraction, that I have really begun to release my limiting beliefs that passions are best left as a pastime.

You can do this too. Release any limiting beliefs that may have you dismissing your passions as a waste of time. These will be statements or excuses such as: I don’t know how to make a living doing this, there isn’t a market for what I’d like to do, I already have many years invested in the job that I am at, I would have to start over, or I’m too old to start again.

And I am here to say, Bollocks! Actually, I never say Bollocks, but it sounds cool when the British say it. Just know this:

You can make a living doing what you love to do!

There are so many opportunities out there for us to impact the lives of others simply by doing the job we were meant to do. By connecting with your passion and putting your talents in motion, you will signal the Universe to open Opportunity’s Door – behind which may reveal many income-producing prospects!

Believe in your talents, embrace your passions, trust in your abilities, and have faith that the Universe will reveal your life’s true purpose!

Letting Go of the Need

Did you know that ‘needing’ something emits a negative energy that you do not have enough? So when we focus on the things that we need – whether it is money, clothing, a vacation, or a new car; we are sending out to the Universe a definite feeling of lack. Remember that the Universe will give back your lack and continually feed your need if you do not correct how you think, feel, and act.

I know that the feeling of lack can be overwhelming at times, and without some help, getting out of that slump can be a real chore. Here are a couple of great ways to help take your focus off of need and bring back those positive vibes:

Let your cup runneth over with Gratitude. Instead of dwelling on what you don’t have, pay special mind to what you do have. Take a moment for the Plenty Twenty. Come up with twenty things that you are thankful for, AND acknowledge why you are grateful for them. Including the ‘why’ allows you to see how plentiful your life really is.

Letting Go. Often times, what we feel we need the most, are things that we don’t know how we are going to get. We may not see a feasible solution to our problem, and therefore, we feel completely out of control.

Personally, I find these to be my BIG issues. For instance, I desire a brand spanking new vehicle. However, when my vehicle breaks down, my mood shifts, and I become in desperate need of a new, reliable vehicle. Realistically, I can’t see how I am going to get a new vehicle; which leads to incessant worrying about the vehicle I do have, the car that I don’t yet have, and the money that I need to spend to have either. Nothing about how I feel without dependable wheels is going to put a shiny new car in my driveway.  And the Universe – doing what it does best – will reciprocate my energy, feed my need, and keep me in lack. So I might as well put my energy to better use.

A great exercise is to forfeit control of the bigger, more complicated issues, while remaining in charge of the little ones. On a sheet of paper, write down those things that you want the Universe to be responsible for. Or if you are a chronic list-maker like I am, you could create a To-Do/ Ta-Da! list similar to this:

todotadachart

There is no rule about your list. It could be weekly or daily – whichever you choose – and contain whatever it is that you find yourself overwhelmed with. Your objective here is to ‘outsource’ to the Universe so that you can put your energy somewhere else. Just the act of relinquishing control and letting go helps to alleviate a great deal of the burden that we frequently weigh ourselves down with. Go easy on yourself, be proud of your accomplishments, and let your energy attract to you more of what you want and less of what you need.

The Gratitude Dance

So fun — I love this video!

The GratiDudes started the Gratitude Dance out of moment of celebration at a coffee shop in Victoria, BC while writing their book on Manifesting Awesomeness.

The Gratitude Game

As gratitude is one of the best ways to bring more into your life, here is a simple game that is sure to produce good feelings and energy for the Universe to reciprocate.

Choose a time in your day like dinnertime or bedtime to develop an Attitude of Gratitude with your kids. This can be a fun sharing game that will send the positive energy soaring. As an example, you can start by saying, “In this very moment, I am grateful for… my family.” You can leave it at that or elaborate on all the wonderful feelings associated with having your family.

Once you are done, it becomes your child’s turn at which point he or she may say, “In this very moment, I am grateful for… getting a B in Math.” Or “In this very moment, I am grateful for… my red shoes!” There is nothing too silly here. You are reinforcing an appreciation for everything. Do this back and forth 3-5 times each, and choose a new thing to be grateful for each time. Close your session off with a “Thank you” to one another, and play the game the very next day! Enjoy!

When Life Hands Your Child Lemons

It is impossible for us to cruise through life and have nothing negative happen to us – ever. It is an essential part to creating the experiences by which we learn and grow from.

However, when negative things happen to our kids, it can be an emotionally stressing time for both the child and the parent.

The dog ate my homework, I fell off my bike and broke my leg, the kid next door called me a bad name, or someone made fun of where I live.

What is important to remember, though, is that how you react will help to determine how they will react to not only the current situation but also in the future.

A great exercise for you both is to make sweet lemonade out of life’s sour lemons. How can you take this negative situation and turn it into something positive? This is a wonderful brainstorming exercise that reveals gratitude, and the Universe responds well to gratitude.

Recipe for LOA Lemonade:

Lemons = Negative situation or event
Squeeze out all their juice = Brainstorming
Add Sugar + Water = Gratitude
Lemonade = Positive result

And it will look something like this:

The dog ate my homework, the teacher didn’t believe me, and I had to stay after school to re-do it. :(

BUT,

I have a dog to love, I get to go to school (many kids don’t receive an education), and I already knew the work so re-doing it was easy! :)
